Corrections and Retractions

The Brazilian Journal of Health Aromatherapy and Essential Oil (BJHAEO) is committed to preserving the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scientific record. The journal follows internationally recognized best practices for handling post-publication issues, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Corrections (Errata)

Corrections are issued when errors are identified that do not compromise the overall validity, results, or conclusions of the published work. These may include minor factual inaccuracies, typographical errors, author affiliation updates, or errors in figures or tables that do not alter the scientific interpretation.

All corrections are published as official errata, clearly identified and permanently linked to the original article to ensure transparency and traceability.

Retractions

Retractions are issued when a published article is found to contain serious errors or ethical violations that invalidate its findings or undermine its integrity. Grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to:

  • Data fabrication or falsification;
  • Plagiarism or redundant publication;
  • Serious methodological errors that invalidate conclusions;
  • Unethical research practices;
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest that significantly affect interpretation.

Retraction notices are clearly labeled, publicly accessible, and permanently linked to the retracted article. The original article remains available in the journal archive, clearly marked as retracted, in accordance with COPE recommendations.

Expressions of Concern

In cases where potential issues are identified but an investigation is ongoing, BJHAEO may issue an Expression of Concern to alert readers to possible problems. This notice remains in place until the investigation is concluded and a final editorial decision is reached.

Editorial Process and Transparency

Decisions regarding corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern are made by the editorial team based on evidence, ethical guidelines, and, when appropriate, consultation with authors, reviewers, or institutional bodies. Authors are informed of concerns and given the opportunity to respond during the evaluation process.

Commitment to Publication Integrity

BJHAEO is dedicated to handling post-publication issues in a fair, transparent, and timely manner, ensuring accountability and maintaining trust in the scientific literature.
