Authorship Criteria

The Brazilian Journal of Health Aromatherapy and Essential Oil (BJHAEO) adopts the authorship criteria established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) to ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical integrity in scientific publishing.

Authorship credit should be based on all of the following four criteria, and all individuals designated as authors must meet each condition:

  1. Substantial Contributions
Significant contribution to the conception or design of the work; or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  2. Manuscript Preparation
Drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
  3. Final Approval
Approval of the final version of the manuscript to be published.
  4. Accountability
Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet all four criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors. Such contributions should be acknowledged appropriately in the Acknowledgments section, with the consent of the individuals involved.

Author Contributions and Transparency

BJHAEO requires that all authors clearly declare their individual contributions to the manuscript at the time of submission. Authors must also disclose any potential conflicts of interest, financial or otherwise, that could be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.

These requirements aim to promote transparency, responsibility, and adherence to internationally accepted ethical standards in scientific publishing.

Changes in Authorship

Requests for changes to authorship (addition, removal, or reordering of authors) after submission must be justified in writing and approved by all listed authors, as well as by the editorial office. BJHAEO reserves the right to deny authorship changes that do not comply with ethical standards.
