Conflict of Interest

The Brazilian Journal of Health Aromatherapy and Essential Oil (BJHAEO) requires all authors, reviewers, and editors to disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence, or be perceived as influencing, the content, evaluation, or interpretation of a manuscript.

A conflict of interest exists when professional judgment concerning a primary interest, such as scientific integrity or patient welfare, may be influenced by a secondary interest.

Types of Conflicts of Interest

Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial relationships, such as employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, grants, or patents;
  • Personal or professional relationships that could affect objectivity or impartiality;
  • Institutional affiliations or academic commitments that could be perceived as influencing editorial or peer-review decisions;
  • Any other circumstance that could reasonably be viewed as a potential source of bias.

Disclosure Requirements

All conflicts of interest must be disclosed at the time of manuscript submission, peer review, or editorial handling, as applicable. Authors must include a clear conflict of interest statement in their manuscript. Reviewers and editors are required to inform the editorial office of any conflicts and must recuse themselves from the evaluation process when appropriate.

Management of Conflicts of Interest

BJHAEO manages disclosed conflicts transparently and in accordance with best editorial practices. The disclosure of a conflict of interest does not automatically preclude publication or participation in the review process; however, failure to disclose relevant conflicts may result in editorial action, including rejection of the manuscript or post-publication correction.

Commitment to Editorial Integrity

BJHAEO is committed to ensuring that conflicts of interest do not compromise the integrity, objectivity, or credibility of the peer-review and editorial process.
