Article Processing Charges (APC)

All articles published in the Brazilian Journal of Health Aromatherapy and Essential Oil (BJHAEO) are open access and made freely available online immediately upon publication. The Article Processing Charge (APC) is applied to cover the costs associated with editorial management, peer review, production, online hosting, indexing services, and long-term digital preservation.

APC Fees

• USD 300.00 – International authors
• BRL 1,000.00 – Brazilian authors

There are no APC charges for:

• Letters to the Editor
• Manuscripts that are rejected
• Article submission

There are no additional fees based on:

• Number of pages
• Color figures
• Supplementary materials

Payment Policy and Timing

 Important:
APC payments are requested only after official acceptance of the manuscript.
No payment is required or accepted during the submission or peer-review process.

This policy ensures full editorial independence and compliance with international ethical standards.

Payment instructions, including the PayPal account details, are sent exclusively after manuscript acceptance by the editorial office.

(All PayPal payments are subject to platform fees, currently 6.40% + USD 0.30, according to PayPal policies.)

APC Discounts and Waivers

BJHAEO is committed to equity in scientific publishing.

• Corresponding authors from countries classified by the World Bank as low-income or lower-middle-income economies are eligible for a 20% APC discount.
• Additional waiver or discount requests may be considered on a case-by-case basis, after editorial acceptance, upon formal request and justification.

Editorial Independence

The payment of APCs does not influence editorial decisions.
All manuscripts are evaluated solely on scientific merit, methodological rigor, originality, and relevance to the journal’s Aims and Scope.
